I still find it weird that I got into Leadbelly through William S. Burroughs. Same way I found Genesis. I don't know if I'll ever be able to explain it but I feel like they were all possessed by same spirit. Ugly. Wretched. But somehow transcendent in its fearless vulnerability. I dunno. Saw em again in SD around 98ish, sick. Missed the 'reunion' tour thing in DC to bullshit circumstances, so pissed! Best live band hands down
